Alia Bhatt is a versatile actor who is known for her method acting and ‘Raazi’ is her first try at a biopic. She has put in a lot of research for playing the role of a Kashmiri woman who is compelled to marry a Pakistani officer played by Vicky Kaushal, only to gather information for the Indian Armed Forces and tipped-off the Indian Intelligence when Pakistan planned to attack INS Viraat in 1971. ‘Raazi’, the period thriller is based on the backdrop of the 1971 war and is no typical Bollywood movie.

Alia Bhatt had to learn the transmission codes since the movie is based in times when the modes of communication were very different from what they are today. The film, based on a book, is directed by Meghna Gulzar. In the video released by co-producers, Junglee Pictures and Dharma Productions titled ‘Decoding Sehmat’, it shows traces of how Alia mugged up morse codes, handled weapons and drove a jonga to give life to this character.

“Sehmat is a normal, young, feminine, gentle girl… who is a spy,” Alia said about Sehmat, her character. Take a look at what she underwent to get into the skin of her character…
