The complaint states that the CEO of Best Deal TV, Gaurav Garg in May 2015 got in touch with Ravi and asked him to deal with Best Deal TV as 'celebrities like Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty was associated with the firm'. After having met the directors, Ravi did start dealing with the company, which initially did pay him for the sales.

However, the company allegedly started avoiding paying dues between July and September 2016. The complainant further alleged that the company owed him unpaid dues worth Rs 24.12 lakhs and he was 'shocked' when he heard that the channel had been shut down.

Once the case starting doing rounds in the media, Raj Kundra came to Shilpa's defence and said that her name is being dragged to create media hype. Raj said, "This is a civil matter and an abuse of the law. We have tight contracts signed and on the contrary, the vendor owes us money for not fulfilling orders. Best deal is, unfortunately, being wound up due to the business failing and we are following the laws of the land to close the various matters properly." Talking about Shilpa's involvement in the film, Raj added, "It's sad that at every step of the way, my wife's name is dragged in to create media hype. She was a non-executive, who had nothing to do with the daily running of the business."

However, the couple has now slapped a 100 crore defamation notice on Bhalotia who publicly called the celebrity couple a 'cheat' and tried to malign their reputation. A petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court.

Confirming the same, Raj Kundra's spokesperson said, "Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty Kundra have slapped a defamation notice for Rs.100 crore on Ravi Mohanlal Bhalotia. A quashing petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court as they have tight contracts signed and have been responsibly following the laws of the land."
