The project will be Thalaiva's 161st film and his second collaboration with director Pa Ranjith after the super-successful 'Kabali'.
Recently there were speculations that Rajinikanth is all set to act in a biopic based on the life of Mumbai underworld don, late Haji Mastan Mirza, a Tamil Muslim who had migrated to Mumbai. The project will be Thalaiva's 161st film and his second collaboration with director Pa Ranjith after the super-successful 'Kabali'.

However, no sooner did the reports of this alleged project came out, a warning letter from Sundar Shaekhar, an adopted son of the don, has been sent to the superstar and the director. The letter has asked the superstar to not depict Haji Mastan as a 'smuggler and an underworld don'. The letter further insinuated that any such attempt will further lead to legal action.

Confirming that he has sent a legal warning to the actor, Sundar Shaekhar stated that late Haji Mastan Mirza was a businessman and founder of Bharatiya Minorities Suraksha Mahasangh. He further said, "Depicting him as smuggler and underworld don is highly unacceptable and defamatory. He was never convicted in any court for smuggling or underworld activities."

When quizzed if he is interested in making the biopic, he replied in affirmative and added that Rajinikanth fits the bill for the part. Sundar Shaekhar concluded saying, "I am interested in making a biopic on him as am a producer and a registered life time member of Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association."
