According to reports, director Rajkumar Hirani will be seen playing himself and not Subhash Ghai in the film
Recently there were reports that director Rajkumar Hirani will have an extended cameo in the Sanjay Dutt biopic. The ace director was rumoured to be playing the 'Showman' Subhash Ghai, who has worked with Sanjay Dutt in hit movies like 'Khalnayak' and 'Vidhaata' to name a few.

However, contrary to reports, Hirani will be seen playing himself and not Subhash Ghai in the film. A source from the film revealed that Hirani will appear in a few scenes where Dutt (played by Ranbir Kapoor) is offered the film 'Munnabhai M.B.B.S'.

The source revealed, "Raju sir making an appearance makes the movie so much more authentic. He has already shot for the part."

Hirani, who had come to Bollywood to become an actor, never got his big break and is best remembered for an advertisement. The source further revealed, "After Raju sir finished his shot, Ranbir and Vicky celebrated his return to acting and threw a party after pack-up."

Helmed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, the Sanjay Dutt biopic is scheduled for release in March 2018.
