Ranbir Kapoor gets candid as he talks about acting, and his mentor in the industry
The Kapoor khandaan has a prominent as well as a long history in the Hindi film industry. Prithviraj Kapoor was the first to set foot in the entertainment industry, and what followed was that the fourth generation continues to be an integral part of the show business. However, it was the lineage that drew Ranbir Kapoor towards acting claims the actor.

Ranbir at a recent event opened up about his decision to be an actor and stated that he didn't become an actor because of his parents - Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh Kapoor. In his speech at a recent event, the actor said, "People think that I am an actor because my parents (father Rishi Kapoor and mother Neetu Singh) are actors. But, in truth, the only reason I wanted to become an actor was to get away from studies. I even took one-line roles, small parts in the background in theatre productions, so that I could bunk classes."

RK junior also further spoke about whom he considers his mentors in the film industry. The actor opined, "Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir beat the craft out of me. He also taught me everything I know about films today. My experience of the best teachers is that they can detect potential — even when a student, and in my case, an actor with the many glittering distractions of youth, is doing their best to waste or ignore their talents. Without teachers, much of this potential would go unused."
