Ranveer Singh comes out to support his film ‘Padmavati’ and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The actor will be seen playing the barbaric invader Alauddin Khilji, his first time playing an out and out negative role.

Padmavati has been embroiled in a controversy for months now. Several protests have erupted across the country, demanding a ban on the film for allegedly demeaning the honour of Rani Padmavati and showing a romantic dream sequence between her and Alauddin Khilji. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the makers have repeatedly denied these claims, but the agitation has only got worse.

Apparently the CBFC chairman Prasoon Joshi said, considering the current situation of 'Padmavati', it probably will take 68 days more to certify 'Padmavati'. Due to various protest against the film by the political parties and fringe group across the nation, the producers of the film voluntarily deferred the release date. But as of now there has not been any confirmation of the new date of release yet.

Ranveer Singh said, “I am 200% with the film and my Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, I have been asked not to say anything, whatever official stand it is you will get it from Producers. It's a very sensitive issue.”

Stay tuned for more updates.
