We all loved Madhuri Dixit and Renuka Shahane in Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ wherein they played sisters. The dynamic duo of Nisha and Pooja are still considered as one of the best sister jodis of the silver screen. After creating an everlasting cinematic impression in 1994, Madhuri and Renuka are all set to share the big screen after a huge gap of 23 years.

Tejas Vijay Deoskar said, “It’s a slice-of-life story with a dash of humour which a lot of people will be able to identify with. Unlike HAHK, Madhuri and Renuka are not related in our film but are connected through the narrative. The film, produced by Vivek Rangachari, is presently being shot in Mumbai and will proceed to Pune and maybe a foreign locale after that. This is Madhuri’s first ever Marathi movie.”

Renuka said she is super excited to collaborate with Madhuri after such a long time, “Tejas used to make documentary films and had approached me years ago. Things didn’t work out then but we kept in touch. One day, he came to me with this film. After I came on board, I was told that Madhuri is playing the lead. I was thrilled to know that because I had hoped for the longest time that she’d do a Marathi film. This is the perfect subject for her.”

Renuka added, “We come from a similar background. Her mom would be on the sets and I would chat with her in Marathi. Back then, working with huge stars was unnerving for me but we shared a warm relationship and all credit goes to Madhuri. She is down-to-earth and professional. I always say that if you get a chance to work with Madhuri, you should offer money to the producer for the opportunity.”

Renuka said she will resume work in January. “We have so many things in common still. Both of us are married, have two boys in the same age group… We spoke about everything from quantum physics to motherhood.”
