Helmed by Shashank Khaitan, the Hindi remake will star Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor
There is a lot of speculation surrounding Karan Johar's Hindi remake of Nagraj Manjule's 'Sairat'. Helmed by Shashank Khaitan, the Hindi remake will also be the launch vehicle for Sridevi's daughter, Jahnvi Kapoor in Bollywood.

Starring Jahnvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, producer Karan Johar had asked the director of the original, Nagraj Manjule to step in as the 'guide' and 'instruct' director Shashank Khaitan. However, if reports are to be believed, Nagraj has refused Karan's offer.

Nagraj Manjule is currently prepping for his next directorial, a Hindi film starring Amitabh Bachchan. Reports suggest that Nagraj is reluctant to hop on board as Karan plans to give 'Sairat' remake an upmarket look.

A source close to the development suggested that the girl will no longer be an affluent village belle. She will instead be an urban diva, and the boy, though a poor ruffian will be a muscled pin-up boy. The insider said, "When you are launching Sridevi’s daughter you can’t have the heroine playing a village girl. Janvi will be clothed in the best and shot in the most eye-catching locales."
