Bollywood's superstar Salman Khan has had a successful decade in his acting career. Over the last 10 years, he's proudly got the status of a mega-film star who holds the record of delivering 15 consecutive films that made 100 crores ever since he breached past the coveted club in 2010 with none other than 'Dabangg'.

Salman has finished this decade with 16 releases of which 9 films namely, Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai – are superhits of epic proportions. Three of these movies having even crossed the 300 crore mark at the box-office. There are 6 movies of Salman in the list of top 20 grossers of the decade. This in itself speaks volumes about his domination.

The man has been very consistent with delivering blockbusters. But what’s common in all the 16 releases is that they all opened to a huge response at the box-office. Every movie consolidated his standing in the industry and how! Even his not-so-impressive films in terms of pre-release hype like Jai Ho, Tubelight and Race 3 did good at the release day and that's only due to his stardom.

Salman sure holds a very unique record of having 12 films which have opened above the huge figure of 20 crore mark. All his 9 films since Kick (2014) have gone past this opening day threshold, is what makes this all the more special. This even shows a consistency of Salman being able to draw big number of audience in the theatres. It was in the first week of December when the hype around 'Dabangg 3' wasn’t looking that great. Although, the movie did open at Rs 22.50 crore on December 20. Needless to say, all thanks to his huge fanbase. The movie has seen these numbers despite facing several hindrances in the release week due to the CAB protests across the nation.

The film would have easily added Rs 5 to 6 crore in the kitty on the opening day had there been no protests, as Salman’s key markets like Delhi, UP, Bihar had come to a standstill due to the same. A 28 crore start on a non-holiday with a movie whose songs didn’t find appreciation. Can you believe that? Well, that’s all the charm that Salman Khan has on people.

A niche film like Tubelight had opened at approximately Rs 21.50 crore during the pre-Eid period, which was workse than a non-holiday. Many of his contemporaries like Akshay Kumar, are yet to break that kind of numbers on even a non-holiday with even bigger films like Kesari and Good Newwz.

Salman has had an amazing consistency in delivering an opening of Rs 20 crore which makes us say that he has the most loyal fan-following of all times. No other actor has the track-record like Salman and not many would have even managed to surpass the Rs 20 crore mark on the release day with political condition alike to the one faced by Dabangg 3. Another factor that differentiates Salman from the rest in Bollywood is the fact that his fan following includes people from all age groups, particularly towards the interiors, who form a big chunk of SK’s fandom who wait to welcome him during Eid each year.

In our country, Salman can easily be compared to the RAW Fan Following, who will come to theatres to just see their superstar in action, is Rajinikanth down south. The two have many similarities when it comes to positioning and image among the mass. Be it having a big heart who can do no wrong in real life or be it the phenomenal way of pulling off the larger-than-life characters. Even if their films underperform in the long run, the exhibitors and distributors are usually confident about their ability to get the houseful board on for the opening weekend, which is yet another sign of stardom.

If you merge his stardom to quality content, the result is amazing with sky high collections – for Salman, being Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. Keeping the numbers aside, even the fan following can be seen with the crowd that comes outside his residence, Galaxy apartment, especially on Eid and December 27 to just get a glimpse of him. Salman has been through a lot of ups and downs in his personal as well as professional life, but it is his stardom that has always stayed intact due to his loyal fans.

Salman will next be seen in Radhe, which is scheduled to release during Eid 2020. The buzz is that the movie will face some competition from the Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmi Bomb. It is going to be an interesting thing to see what happens in this box office battle considering the fact that even Akshay Kumar films’ have never been high on opening day collections. A recent example of the same being, Good Newwz, which failed to go past the opening day figures of Dabangg 3 even after having an ensemble supporting cast of Diljit Dosanjh, Kareena Kapoor and Kiara Advani as well as hit music.

While all the political unrest in the country has also slowed down, Akshay's movie took an opening of approximately 18 crore during the Christmas Holiday season. As compared to Dabangg 3 making 22.50 crore a week earlier when the protests around CAB were at their peak. Now, we're all waiting to see what happens when these two big actors compete all over again on Eid 2020.
