Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Gustakhiyan' put on hold?

Recently there were reports that things were almost in place for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's pet project 'Gustakhiyan'. In fact, the only detail that was remaining to be finalised was the schedule and the makers were expected to officially announce the project by month end.

However, it seems the things are not on track. Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan, who were said to be the lead pair for the project have their hands full with other projects. Irrfan is currently away in the US, where he is shooting for his next, 'Puzzle' with Kelly McDonald. 'Desi Girl' PeCee, who is now a household name in the West, is also busy with the third season of 'Quantico' and Sila Howard’s film 'A Kid Like Jake'.

A few weeks back a source close to the development had revealed, "Priyanka's dates that she initially gave to Bhansali will now be taken up by her Hollywood commitments. Her team is currently figuring out new dates for 'Gustakhiyan'. When Priyanka gave her dates, Irrfan also adjusted his dates accordingly. Since the schedule has now changed, Irrfan's date diary has gone haywire, too. Once Priyanka gives her dates, Irrfan too plans to accommodate the same in his schedule."

Considering that the lead pair currently has their hands full and the fact that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is keen to cast the two, the team is currently in a quandary. While SLB's team has asked him to shelve the project, the director is very keen on this project and has agreed to hold on a little bit longer.

Based on the love story of Sahir Ludhianvi and Amrita Pritam, it looks like Bhansali's 'Gustakhiyan' is currently in a state of limbo.
