Cynthia Nixon, aka Miranda, has made a lasting impression on Americans as she played a powerful role of a woman in the iconic series, 'Sex and the City'. And now, we hear that the actress is officially running for the position of Governor of New York. Cynthia has been a progressive activist and is now moving into politics by running for governor.

Nixon made the official announcement Monday afternoon on Twitter, posting an official campaign video that featured her wife, Christine Marinoni and their son, Max. “New York is my home. I’ve never lived anywhere else,” Nixon said. “I’m a proud public school graduate and an even prouder public school parent. I was given chances I just don’t see for most of New York’s kids today,” she added. She will be running as a primary challenger to Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is also a Democrat. On her website, Nixon calls out Cuomo’s management of the MTA, which operates New York City’s public transportation, along with other issues like education funding and tax breaks for corporations. But she’ll have an uphill battle for her race, according to many local leading newspapers. A new poll commissioned by Siena College shows Cuomo ahead by 66 percent to 19 percent among Democratic voters. But even though she definitely has name recognition, 60 percent of poll responders said they had no opinion of her either way. So Nixon has a big opportunity to prove herself before the primary.

Here's how she declared that she was going to run for the post:

Here's wishing her all the very best!
