Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma come forth in Imtiaz Ali’s defence

With the release of 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' trailer, there were allegations on director Imtiaz Ali that all his love stories follow a template. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead, 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' is a story of a tour guide who helps a girl find her engagement ring that she lost during the trip.

While there have been similarities drawn between 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' and Imtiaz's previous work, Anushka and Shah Rukh in a recent interaction came to the filmmaker's defence. Disagreeing that Imtiaz's love story follows a certain template, Anushka said, "People think he uses the same templates in his films; I have never seen anything like that. Some props are similar, but there's an unbeatable lure in his films."

The actress further added, "True love happens only when people discover who they really are, and Imtiaz views love as a teacher. One can't tell Imtiaz how to make a love story. I like how real his characters feel. Imtiaz portrays that reality with such honesty that he cannot hit a false note."

Adding to what Anushka said, Shah Rukh in Imtiaz's defence praised the director and said that Imtiaz has a knack of bringing out new facets of love. Shah Rukh said, "No one can ever have enough of love. There are way too many facets of love, and Imtiaz always has a fresh perspective on romance. There's always a new way to present love stories. Imtiaz has his own language. I have never been a lover like I play in this film, and only Imtiaz could've thought of something like this."
