It has been a while since we've been hearing reports suggest that there will be a remake of popular Telugu film 'Arjun Reddy' and while most of us presumed that Vijay Deverakonda, the actor who played the lead in the original film, would slip into the Hindi role as well in the remake, reports now suggest that Shahid Kapoor has been chosen to play the lead.

Apparently, Shahid replaced Ranveer, who was initially considered by makers for the film. It is now confirmed by sources that it is Shahid who will play the role. A source said, “Director Sandeep Vanga wanted Ranveer to play Arjun Reddy. But after 'Padmavati', Ranveer is voluntarily off-limits for dark characters. So, Sandeep then went to Shahid, for whom this role would be an antithetical change after the noble royalty in 'Padmavati'.” Buzz is that Shahid would require intense preparation, including losing at least eight to nine kilos before the shoot for the film begins. He would also need to learn how to snort cocaine and how to inject himself with stimulants and uppers.

After 'Udta Punjab', we think Shahid can slip in and slip out of any role and we bet he'll do a great job at this one too.
