Shahid Kapoor's next, 'Padmavati' has been embroiled in a lot of controversy over the last few months. The sets of 'Padmavati' were vandalised on two separate occasions by an angry mob. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama came under fire owing to the alleged distortion of historical facts regarding the portrayal of Queen Padmini.

Both the director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the production house have released a statement regarding the incident and have stated that despite the various hitches in the shooting for the film, the film is currently on track.

While Deepika Padukone refused to comment on the 'Padmavati' controversy, Shahid Kapoor, who attended a recent award ceremony in the city said, "Our attempt will be to shoot the film smoothly. And we just hope when the film releases people look at it in an unbiased way and after that, they can say what they want to. Sanjay sir is keeping in mind the sentiments of the people. We will not do anything that will hurt people."

When asked if the actor has any other professional commitment lined up for the year, Shahid replied, "The entire year is dedicated to 'Padmavati'. I am sure we will complete the film and bring it out sometime this year."

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, 'Padmavati' stars Deepika Padukone in the titular role as Queen Padmini, Shahid as Rawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, is scheduled to release this year on November 17.
