Sidharth-Alia break-up is a publicity gimmick?

Recently the reports that Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra are no longer together started doing rounds on the social media. While the two never confirmed their relationship status, they were often seen together at parties, screenings and outings in the city.

When quizzed Sidharth about the reports, the actor said, "Me and Alia break-up? For what? We broke some tables and chairs? Aap toh kuch bhi likh sakte hai, there's no point saying anything." What added further fuel to the reports of the breakup were the rumours of increasing closeness between Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez.

However, insiders suggest that the reports of Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez's closeness are nothing but efforts to promote their upcoming movie, 'A Gentleman'. The source said, "Sidharth’s last film, 'Baar Baar Dekho', was a disaster. He doesn’t want to take any chances. He desperately needs a hit. He’s leaving no stone unturned to ensure that 'A Gentleman' is a success."

While Sidharth and Varun have often been compared to each other, Varun has managed to successfully establish himself as a dependable actor. An actress close to Karan Johar’s camp said, "Both Varun and Sidharth started off as Karan Johar’s blue-eyed boys. But Varun raced ahead. You think that doesn’t bother Sidharth? Sidharth is looking for a hit. And kissing Jacqueline until her lips go blue is part of the strategy."
