Sonam Kapoor acquires rights for book series based on ‘Mahabharata’

Sonam reportedly has plans to adapt the series into a film

Sonam Kapoor has been experimenting with her choice of roles and was recently on a quest to adapt the novel ‘Battle for Bittora’ into a film. Although, her plans failed the actress has hardly slowed down in her quest to see more books being adapted for the big screen. A few days ago the actress confirmed that she was working on a film based on Anuja Chauhan’s ‘The Zoya Factor’, and has also decided to back the adaptation of another novel, this time a series.

Sonam has reportedly acquired the rights of Krishna Udayasankar’s ‘The Aryavarta Chronicles,’ a modern retelling of the epic Mahabharata through its three books, Govinda, Kaurava, and Kurukshetra. The author, Krishna confirmed this news and stated, “I was zapped and star-struck when Sonam first reached out to me to let me know she’d enjoyed The Aryavarta Chronicles. It’s exciting that The Aryavarta Chronicles series is in the hands of someone with great aesthetic vision.” Talking about Sonam, she added, “Sonam’s passion for the story and its characters and her down-to-earth attitude totally blew me away. I can’t wait to work with her.”
