Sonam Kapoor opens up about her Bollywood journey and sexism in the industry
Sonam Kapoor started her Bollywood career with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya', however, because the film didn't quite do well, the actress had a slow start at the Box Office. Her fashion choices soon became a talking point and Sonam received appreciation in abundance for the same. Sonam was also known for speaking her mind, and thus media interactions with her became a favourite.

With a career graph that started slow but soon caught space, Sonam in 'Neerja' proved that the actress was here to stay. However, Sonam feels that it was 'Raanjhanaa' that changed her life. Talking about the same to leading tabloid, Sonam revealed, "I thought that my life would be harder, but I have not had one flop film after Raanjhanaa. It’s been five years and it’s only gotten better because my decisions have been very idealistic. I have never toed the line."

When asked about her film choices, the actress opined, "If a director comes to me with a big project and actor, but no script I ask him how do I know what my role is? Why should I do this film? I don’t care if others have done it. Sooraj Barjatya has narrated his entire script to me. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has not once told me you cannot have an opinion. They are the most successful people."

She also spoke about sexism in the industry, and said, "The general perception is that the film industry is sexist but there are only a few people who are and very strangely, it is the women who are more sexist in the film industry."

On the work front, Sonam will be next seen in 'Veere Di Wedding' that also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan alongside her.
