Sonam Kapoor who has worked with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali in ‘Saawariya’, which was her debut film in 2007, wishes the filmmaker the best for his next ‘Padmaavat’. The film is all set to hit the theatres on 25th January 2018. The film has gone through a lot of trouble, the team was threatened and also had received death threats. The political parties were not allowing the film to release. But Sonam Kapoor hopes no other film faces such major issues as the upcoming period drama.

Sonam Kapoor talks about ‘Padmaavat’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, “I haven’t worked with him (Bhansali) for 10 years since my first film released. I have been in touch with him. I wish him all the best for his film. I hope the film releases and I won’t wish this (protest) on anybody.”

Sonam talks about the menstrual hygiene stigma, “There is a lot of stigma attached to menstrual hygiene and hopefully a film like this will change the mindset of people to an extent and even create awareness. I hope India is progressing towards a better future. The idea to make any kind of art be it films or anything is to reach out to more people and propagate something to change. Any change would be a welcome with our film.”

Sonam Kapoor will be seen next in ‘PadMan’ along with Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte. ‘PadMan’ will clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Padmaavat’ starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor.
