On Thursday, Supreme Court dismissed the plea filed by Sanjay Gandhi's alleged biological daughter demanding a stay on the release of 'Indu Sarkar'
Despite the CBFC and High Court clearance, the release of Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Indu Sarkar' was challenged by a woman who claims to be the biological daughter of late Congress leader Sanjay Gandhi. However, on Thursday, the Supreme Court dismissed the plea and refused to put a stay on the film's release.

A bench of Justice Dipak Misra, Justice Amitav Roy and Justice A.M. Khanwilka dismissed the plea filed by Priya Singh Paul and said, "The movie is an artistic expression within the parameters of the law." Priya Singh Paul moved to the apex court after Bombay High Court had dismissed her plea saying no “known descendant” of Sanjay Gandhi has objected to the movie. In her plea, Paul had mentioned that film was 'full of concoction and totally derogatory' content aimed at maligning the image of Sanjay Gandhi and his mother, Indira Gandhi.

Set in the Emergency era, 'Indu Sarkar' has been mired in controversies since the trailer came out. Helmed by Madhur Bhandarkar, 'Indu Sarkar' is all set to release on July 28.
