Sushant Singh Rajput as a form of protest against Karni Sena deleted Rajput from his name on all the social media platforms for the day
Recently, the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus, 'Padmavati' were vandalised by a fringe political group, Karni Sena. Justifying their reason behind the attack, they claimed that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movie on Rani Padmini and the alleged romantic sequence between Padmini and Alauddin Khilji was hurtful towards the sentiments of the Rajput clan.

However, Sushant Singh Rajput did not agree with them and as a form of protest deleted the title of Rajput from his name on all the social media platforms for the day. Talking about the same, in a recent interview Sushant said, "Rajputs do not consider the Karni Sena to be their representatives. What Karni Sena did with Sanjay Leela Bhansali was a very shameful thing.
I wanted to remove my surname for one day and tell the world that the people who claim to be Rajput representatives are not my representatives. I had removed Rajput from my surname for just one day to protest."

He revealed that he removed the title of 'Rajput' from his surname as a form of protest, However, a lot of people on the social media asked him to remove the tile permanently. Reacting to it, Sushant said, "This is very sensitive to me. It is similar to the flag being flown on half-mast for one day for one's respect or opposition, but does it remain that way forever?"

He further added, "We live in a country where people's opinions in public often invite wrath. That is why people here give a diplomatic answer. And if you talk about someone in the negative light, you immediately become soft targets."

Sushant Singh Rajput will next be seen onscreen in Dinesh Vijan's 'Raabta' opposite Kriti Sanon.
