The 23rd Kolkata International Film Festival has kicked off and trust us when we say that it was a star-studded one! From Shah Rukh Khan to Amitabh Bachchan to Kamal Haasan and Kajol, celebrities flocked to kick start the 8-day festival (10th November to the 17th of November). The festival will feature 142 movies from 65 countries in 19 categories.

Amitabh Bachchan inaugurated the ceremony and highlighted that unity in diversity and national integration are reflected in music in Indian cinema. The actor has been part of the inauguration ceremony for the past four years already. Kamal Haasan too had some interesting facts to share with the audience as also the panel. Mahesh Bhatt also praised the introduction of a category devoted to films in a rare Indian language.

On a lighter note, Kajol looked her gorgeous self in a saree and was seen getting chatty with Shah Rukh. Shah Rukh too took to the mike and addressed the crowd. He started off with, “Now, I am attempting eight lines in Bengali, please bear with me,” he told a capacity crowd at Netaji Indoor Stadium. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was thanked for her enthusiasm to celebrate cinema through KIFF too.
