The UAE authorities are following their processes, says Indian envoy on Sridevi's autopsy

Bollywood actress Sridevi's untimely demise has left everyone in a state of shock. It has been two days since the actress passed away in Dubai but her remains are yet to be flown back to India. Reportedly, there is an additional clearance that needs to be followed before her remains can be repatriated to Mumbai. “The investigation is still going on to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident as the forensic report only says that she drowned,” an official was quoted saying.

The actress was in Dubai with her husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi, for a wedding. The actress reportedly was found unconscious in her hotel room's bathroom post which she was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, she was declared brought dead. Talking about all the procedures that are being followed, Navdeep Suri, the Indian envoy to UAE, told the media in Dubai, “It is their internal process. We do not know.” When asked if he knew when the actress' remains would be sent back to Mumbai, he said, “It is difficult to give any timeline as the UAE authorities are following their processes.”

It was initially unclear when the actress' remains will be sent back. But as per latest reports, the Public Prosecutor's Office in the Emirate of Dubai has decided to hand over her body to her relatives on Tuesday after the investigation into her death was concluded. Dubai Media office, in a tweet posted, "The decision to release the body came after all the investigations and procedural matters followed in such incidents were completed, in order to determine all its circumstances and ensure that justice was done within the framework of the law.” A go-ahead has been given to the authorities to repatriate the actress' body. Her family members have also been allowed to send her body for embalming. Her remains are said to be flown back today. Stay tuned for more updates.
