'Tiger Zinda Hai' results in shelving of Bollywood remake of a hit Malayalam film

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer 'Tiger Zinda Hai' has been making the headlines ever since the film's inception. Now, the trailer for the film has come out and boy did all of their fans go gaga all over it. Though the trailer got record views in no time, it also left an unlikely victim in its path. The film appears to be inspired by the rescue operation launched by the Indian government to bring back Indian nurses abducted by the Islamic State in Tikrit, Iraq in 2014.

The subject was earlier tackled by a Malayalam film, 'Take Off', whose Hindi remake was in the works. But according to reports, director Mahesh Narayan has shelved plans to remake the film after watching the trailer of 'Tiger Zinda Hai'. According to a leading entertainment media portal, Mahesh dropped his plans for a Hindi remake as he found 'Tiger Zinda Hai' to be similar to his 2017 hit film. Much like the Salman starrer 'Tiger Zinda Hai', 'Take Off' was also inspired by the real-life rescue operation of Indian nurses.

The director had even retweeted a tweet which said, “#TigerZindaHai is basically #Salmansplaining Malayalam film #TakeOff for a Bollywood audience.”

Helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, 'Tiger Zinda Hai' is the sequel to Salman’s 2012 hit film, 'Ek Tha Tiger' that also featured Katrina. 'Tiger Zinda Hai' is slated to hit theatres on December 22. Stay tuned for more updates.
