Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt-starrer 'Shhuddhi' NOT shelved!

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Karan Johar's magnum opus, 'Shhudhhi'. When the project was announced, reports were that Hrithik has been signed for the part, which later allegedly was being done by Salman and finally the confirmation came that Varun Dhawan has come onboard for the part.

In fact, a couple of years back, Karan Johar announced that 'Shhuddhi' was being made with Varun and Alia in the lead and Karan Malhotra was reworking the script. While this report came in a couple of years back, recently there were reports that Karan's magnum opus, 'Shhuddhi' has been shelved.

However, in a recent interaction, Dharma Productions' CEO, Apoorva Mehta revealed that the film is definitely happening! Apoorva said, "'Shhuddhi' is definitely something that we are looking to make, but we want to do it at the right time. No, it has not been shelved and it will be made pretty soon.”

But Alia and Varun during the release of 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' had revealed that they would want to take a break from working with each other. When asked if considering this, would they still come together for 'Shhuddhi', Apoorva said, "We are still talking. The script is going through revisions like lots of scripts go through. So once everything is ready, we will take a call."
