Will the release date of 'Padmavati' result in jittery nerves for other filmmakers?

When the makers of 'Padmavati' pushed their release date from 17th November to the 1st of December, months back, it apparently put several other filmmakers into a state of panic. And due to the release date of the movie being deferred because of controversies generated by the Karni Sena and other groups, several other films have had to shuffle their release dates around too.

And now, the buzz is that 'Padmavati' will finally release in January or February and makers who plan to release their films around the same time seem to be facing an issue and jittery nerves too. A trade source said, “It’s a difficult situation. Given the curiosity the film has generated and the publicity it has had in recent times, 'Padmavati' will not face any opposition when it releases. Not even if it clashes with a Khan film. There was a buzz the movie might release around January 12, but Saif Ali Khan’s 'Kaalakaandi' and Anurag Kashyap’s 'Mukkabaaz' are now fixed for those dates. The makers too expect trouble if 'Padmavati' releases around those dates.”

The source added, “Akshay Kumar’s 'PadMan' and Neeraj Pandey’s 'Aiyaary', with Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee are expected around Republic Day, followed by 'Sony Ke Titu Ki Sweety', 'Hichki', 'Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran', and Anushka Sharma’s 'Pari'.”
