A few lesser-known spiritual practices that you can practice at home

Spirituality might sound simple by abstract. Spiritual practices are connected with religions - meditation, holy chants and prayers. But it's much more than just that. It is a connection with your inner soul in the moments when you're quiet, reflective or intentional. It is in the moments when you communicate with your innate superior power and find a meaning to life.

There are a few more lesser-known spiritual practices that you can easily get a hang of while you're in the comfort of your home.

- Be a giver and be helpful: You can grow your spiritual development by being helpful and giving to others. You can volunteer, make donations or offer any kind of help to the ones in need. Make an effort in your own ways be it monetary, physical or anything else. Being generous in your actions, personality and behaviour will help your grow spiritually.

- Take spiritual breaks throughout the day: Take short breaks that will help you improve your wellness, flexibility and health. This can be some simple yoga exercises, deep breathing, soaking in the sun for a few minutes or mentally recounting a prayer also will help you reconnect to your spirit.

- Laugh out loud: Laughing is the best exercise not just physically but mentally too. It's a central to spiritual well being. When you laugh it instills positive energies of fun, happiness, playfulness, content and silliness. The simple remedy of laughter helps you deal with trying circumstances and brings you closer to your self spiritually. It's one of the best spiritual practices that anyone can adopt.

- Write it down: There are so many people who have started maintaining a journal where they write about what makes them grateful for each day. This is one of the best exercises to follow at the end of each day as it makes you give perspective to what you did throughout the day and count your blessings.

- Learn to forgive: A very difficult yet very satisfying feeling to feel spiritually. Holding grudges or negative feelings for someone or something won't get the best out of you. Instead, learn to forgive, people, situations, circumstances and yourself. Forgiving will lighten your spirit and bring you inner peace and joy.
