Whenever we think of retro, we instantly think about the 1950s. Retro can mean so many different things to different people but there is one emotion that binds us all together - nostalgia. There were times when things were simpler and life was slow paced. But now it's all changed and newer trends as well as newer technologies keep coming in the market to blow our minds. Hence, there are people who try to give their home a retro touch in order to remind themselves of the beautiful nostalgic times there were in the past.

If you're someone who would love to give your home a retro touch, you must pick on furniture fabrics that have prints and patterns from back in the 70s. Retro style usually is quite fun and lively to play around with yet bright and simple in its own ways. The chic and retro decor can make a big difference to the ambiance in your house.

Here are some tips that can help you give your house a retro touch:

- Vintage furniture: Vintage decor can very much give your home a conventional yet grand touch. They have the ability to texture and personality to any kind of space. When you pair some old pieces with new ones, it creates quite a vibe in itself.

- Bright and beautiful: The 70s and 80s vibe was all about chintz and pastels. You don't have to go overboard with it, but keep it simple and colourful where you can. Adding some bright coloured cushions in your living area can change the whole look.

- Lighting: If you wish to add a vintage charge to your house, choose some bulbs that give a warm feel to your area. Another great way to do that is by adding floor lamps and lamps that are square with tassels to add a retro vibe.

- Accessories: You can go all out with this one thing. Get some antique lamps, mirrors, fuzzy rugs, skate tables, sepia prints, door beards, etc. The idea should be to add elements of a retro theme and not to make a retro-themed house.

- Combining different patterns: Retro isn't just one style but a blend of textures, shapes and colours that helps in creating a unique era. If you wish to go retro, you need to give up the inhibitions about mixing different colours as well as patterns.
