You'd know that when you rub objects against each other, it produces static electricity and hair static is also caused by the same manner where hair comes in touch with each other and produces static. When the strands of your hair rubs against each other, they swap electrons. This causes electric charge that builds up on your hair. Humidity in the air can vanish the charge. Although, there are times when there is no humidity or moisture in your hair. On such days, your hair is full of electrons and they will automatically stand up on its own.

This might get irritating for you to deal with and so, we've got you ways in which you can fight hair static:

- Oil your hair regularly: Your hair will keep producing electric charge if they're dehydrated or dry. This can happen due to complete lack of moisture in the air too. Hence, it's always better to have a habit of oiling your hair regularly so that you can prevent hair static and also help your hair stay healthy and hydrated.

- Use leave-in conditioners: Another way to fight static in your hair is to use a leave-in conditioner all through winter when your hair tends to lose moisture. This product will hydrate your hair and keep the strands protected at all costs from weather conditions as well as changing temperatures.

- Use hair serum: Hair serum can come in handy to do away with fly-away and frizzy hair. You can apply a good amount of hair serum and relieve your hair from hair static too.

- Use a metal comb instead: Using a plastic comb will all produce static in your hair even more. Hence, using a metal comb will help you in removing any kind of built up static in your hair. This way, the static will attach to the metal comb rather than your hair strands.

- Swap your hat for a satin or silk material: Usually, winter is the time when you need to ditch those cotton lined or even acrylic hats and rather switch to satin or silk linings. These materials help in keeping your strands lay flat and don't get roughened by the material. Silk and satin materials help in preventing frizz as well as hair breakage.
