While you may face psychological stress from having to stare into your computer screen for such prolonged periods of time, have you ever wondered what sitting for so long can do for your physical health?
Most jobs these days require you to be glued to your desk for 9 to 10 hours a day. While you may face psychological stress from having to stare into your computer screen for such prolonged periods of time, have you ever wondered what sitting for so long can do for your physical health? Multiple studies have proved that sitting for prolonged periods can be very bad for health so here are some of its side effects you should know about.

- It leads to unhealthy weight gain. Well, this one is a given, to be honest. If you're just going to be sitting around all day then it's only natural that you gain weight.

- It can weaken your immune system because your body needs at least some amounts of moderate exercise in order to stay healthy. And if it doesn't get that exercise, it can lead to a decline in your immune system.

- It can lead to posture-related issues like backaches. In fact, certain studies have shown that sitting for long hours could also lead to issues in the spine and increase the chances of lower back injuries.

- It can also lead to issues in your legs due to cutting off of blood circulation for long periods of time. This is often why people end up with fluid build-ups in their feet. It could also lead to swollen ankles and varicose veins.

This is why you should make more of an effort to be active during office hours. Take a 5-minute break after 30 minutes of working and take a stroll around the office. It'll significantly help improve things for you. Stay tuned for more updates.
