A nice cold brew coffee has become a popular beverage over the years. Having coffee this cold makes it taste less bitter. While most of the research focuses on the benefits of a hot cup of coffee, there is a lot of value in a cold cup too.

What is it? "It’s a brewing method, making coffee that’s been brewed using ambient, or cold water. This process replaces temperature with time for the extraction method. Instead of using hot water to dissolve the solubles in the coffee bean, it uses time," an expert is quoted as saying by a news portal.

Here's are some of the amazing health benefits of cold-brew coffee.

1: Gives your metabolism a boost: You are able to burn more calories when your metabolic rate is really high. Cold coffee also contains caffeine, which has been found to increase the resting metabolic rate by close to 11 per cent. Caffeine also increases how much fat your body burns.

2. May help improve your mood: Cold brew coffee contains caffeine that can enhance mood. This effect can be especially powerful on people who are very sleep deprived. One study that involved close to370,000 people found that the cold brew helped treat symptoms of depression. Even consuming one cup a day made a huge difference. Some researchers claim caffeine could be used as a supplement to improve one's mood and brain function.

3. May reduce risk of heart disease: Cardiovascular disease is becoming a growing issue even in young people. More and more people are suffering from heart attacks and strokes. Protecting yourself from these health conditions is extremely important. One study has found that cold brew coffee contains compounds that can significantly reduce your risk of heart disease. However, you should consume this drink in moderation.

4. May reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes: When blood sugar levels are very high and untreated, it could put you at risk of diabetes. Researchers have found four to six cups of cold brew coffee can significantly lower your risk of the condition. This may be because the drinks contain a powerful antioxidant called chlorogenic acids.
