Asthma makes toddlers more likely to be obese, researchers state

Obesity is an issue that's affecting many today. The increase of obesity in the population today is because of various lifestyle changes and stress could also be a factor here. However, we have got to know recently that researchers are now stating that toddlers who suffer from asthma are at a risk of obesity too!

Asthma is a condition that can make life a daily struggle and it puts people at the risk of obesity. Why's that? Research has revealed that toddlers who suffer from asthma are more likely to be obese since it stops them from exercising. Symptoms such as wheezing and breathlessness make physical exercise difficult for children who have asthma and this raises their chances of becoming dangerously overweight in the future by 66 per cent.

We also learn that steroids - meant to prevent asthma attacks by opening airways - also make people overweight by raising appetite. It's a vicious cycle...
