Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev has a very well known brand that people love and trust. Now, it looks like his brand is eyeing the cannabis space in the country. A few Indian politicians have backed cannabis research and legalisation of marijuana in India following which the brand is now intensifying research on the plant's medicinal and industrial properties. “In ayurveda, since ancient times, parts of cannabis (hemp), for instance, have been used for medicinal purposes. So, we are looking at various formulations. We should ponder over the benefits and positive uses of the cannabis plant,” said their chief executive.

"In western markets, parts of the cannabis plants are being used for fibre for cloth or some kinds of oils. Similarly, we are doing some research to see that the harmful or intoxicating properties are removed and then it is used,” he added. "Research is already on. It has been found that much of it (cannabis plant) is good for health. But, toxic parts, like THC, need to be removed from cannabis oil," he continued. "By criminalizing marijuana, we are denying a full-fledged business opportunity to our people," he concluded.
