But just because you own a beauty sponge doesn't mean you know how to use it properly. In fact, if you're not satisfied with the way your makeup has been turning out, chances are you've been using your beauty sponge incorrectly. You're rubbing the sponge on your face - Don't rub the sponge or swipe it across or face. That will only make things worse. You're supposed to gently dab the sponge all over to give your face a natural-looking coverage. This also helps blend your makeup better.

You're using a dry sponge - This is a big no-no. It'll end up making your makeup look all spotty and cakey. Instead, wet your sponge a little to soften it and then use it on your face. You'll notice the difference it can make to your makeup look.

You're applying products to the sponge directly - Again, this one is a big no-no because it'll just end up wasting your product. Instead, apply your products to the back of your hand and then use the damp sponge to pick them up and spread them evenly across your face.

Not changing your beauty sponges - Sponges aren't meant to be used long-term. At best, they'll last you for about 6 months and then they need to be changed. If you keep using old sponges they'll end up damaging your skin and leading to breakouts and acne.
