It is always recommended to eat a bigger breakfast instead of a bigger meal for dinner as it can prevent obesity and high blood pressure, according to a new study. Researchers at the University of Lubeck in Germany found that your body appears to be better at processing in the mornings than the evenings.

Our body expends energy when we digest food for digestion, transportation, absorption and storage of nutrients. This process is called as diet-induced thermogenesis (DIT), which is a measure of how well the metabolism works and how it can differ depending on mealtime.

The study corresponding author, Juliane Richter, from University of Lübeck in Germany says, “Our results show that a meal eaten for breakfast, regardless of the amount of calories it contains, creates twice as high diet-induced thermogenesis as the same meal consumed for dinner.”

Richter even added, “This finding is significant for all people as it underlines the value of eating enough at breakfast. We recommend that patients with obesity as well as healthy people eat a large breakfast rather than a large dinner to reduce body weight and prevent metabolic diseases.”

This study that was conducted at the University of Lubeck in Northern Germany focused entirely on medicine and science.
