With this new age of technology, there's an app for just about everything. Be it socialising, or purchasing groceries or even buying medicines, apps have taken over the world by storm with their instant availability and solutions. Now, a study has found that using fitness apps can help people stay motivated to continue their workout session on a daily basis. They're easy to download and easy to use which is why they work so well.

According to researchers, people who use fitness apps often struggle with maintaining a fitness routine. It was also reported that 47.5 percent of people who used a health app, eventually just stopped using it and their motivation to workout, dwindled down with it. “A major challenge for this industry is to keep people using the app after the novelty has worn off. The bottom line of our project is to find ways that we think will help people sustain interest in their workouts," said a researcher.

The researchers also added that more customisation features like the number of workouts and particular personal details might help keep a person interested in a fitness app for much longer. It was found that when users added more of their personal information to the app, there was a 22.3 percent increase in tracked workouts. And these people also reported lifting about 36.8 percent more weight.

The researchers believe that the findings of this study will not only help app makers come up with better-developed apps but will also help keep people motivated to continue on their fitness journey.
