Celebrity nutritionist, Rujuta Divekar tells you why you need to include ghee in your diet

Ghee or clarified butter is one of the most nutritious superfoods and has several health benefits. Primarily used in Indian cuisines to enhance flavour, it has essential fatty acids that are beneficial for the overall health of a person. It also boosts the body’s immune system, keeps chronic diseases at bay, aids in digestion, helps in shedding extra kilos, builds strong bones, reduces inflammation and is even used for hair and skin.

However, due to its high-fat content, ghee has often had a bad reputation among people who are on weight loss programmes, so much so that they have completely refrained from consuming ghee completely. Divekar took to Instagram to bust the myths surrounding it and urged people to indulge into ghee from time to time. According to the celebrity nutritionist, there’s one should absolutely add a dollop of ghee to their rice or roti, as it is good for health and enhances flavour.

She continues to say that the human brain is composed of at least 60% of fat, which it derives from our dietary fats. Ghee is the richest source of saturated (healthy) fats amongst the entire food group. She ends by saying that consuming it small qualities can do wonders for one’s overall health.
