Exercise in childhood promises to promote long-lasting health and even helps combat certain negative health effects in adulthood. According to a study published in the Journal of Physiology, exercise early in life can help combat low insulin sensitivity in adulthood for children and hence, can eventually help counteract the risk of diabetes.

For those of you not in the know, insulin is the hormone that controls blood sugar levels and people with low insulin sensitivity tend to suffer from type 2 diabetes. Children with fathers with a high-fat diet or those who are obese are more likely to have low insulin sensitivity and hence exercise in childhood for them is essential. Conducted by Victoria University, the study clearly pointed out that early exercise prevented in adulthood, the negative effects caused by the high-fat diet of their fathers. Now, the researchers plan to properly determine the relationship between paternal diet and offspring exercise.
