Most people with type 2 diabetes presume that apart from cutting down on sugar, they also need to avoid eating fruits because they contain natural sugars. But doctors have always recommended that fruits should form a part of a healthy diet for people. People with type 2 diabetes have excessive sugar in their blood, either because their body is unable to produce insulin or it rejects the insulin that is produced by the cells. So, what if we told you that there's a certain type of fruit that could actually help improve blood sugar levels and insulin sensitivity in the body?

It seems too good to be true, doesn't it? But trust us when we say that if you include this fruit in your diet, it will definitely work wonders for you. The fruit that we're talking about is berries. They contain multiple vitamins and minerals that are essential for the body and they can help regulate insulin levels in the body, which makes them great for diabetics. They even contain fibres which can aid the digestion process. “Despite berries containing the sugar fructose, studies show that they help to improve insulin sensitivity as well as regulate blood sugar levels,” said a lead researcher.

Berries also happen to have a low glycaemic index which means they're perfectly safe for people with type 2 diabetes. Foods that have a high GI can affect the blood of a diabetic in negative ways. “A regular dose of any type of berries could help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes,” the researcher added. Well, this certainly proves that berries can come to the rescue here. Stay tuned for more updates.
