As your child grows up he/she notices your behaviour patterns and lifestyle and gets influenced by the same. Now, a study has found that children who grow up around mothers who have an unhealthy lifestyle are more prone to obesity as compared to children growing up in a healthy environment. The study showed that the risk of obesity in children was lowest amongst mothers who had a healthy weight, did not smoke, ate a healthy diet, exercised regularly, and were light to moderate drinkers.

The study further suggested that if both the mother and the child stuck to a healthy lifestyle, the risk of obesity would shorten down even more. The medical history and lifestyle of 24,289 children aged 9-14 years who were born to 16,945 women were researched. Mothers were also questioned about their smoking habits and alcohol intake. As compared to women who smoked, children of women who did not smoke had a 31% lesser chance of being obese.

Whereas children of mothers who followed a strictly healthy plan as mentioned earlier had a 75% lesser chance of being obese. Stay tuned for more updates.
