It's a known fact that green tea and red wine can provide many health benefits. But now, a study has furthered this by stating that the compounds in these beverages may help block the formation of toxic molecules that cause severe developmental and mental disorders. “The bioactive compounds in green tea can have various protective effects on neurons and may reduce the risk of both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, the two most common neurodegenerative disorders,” Dr. Anuj Kumar, a Delhi-based neurosurgeon said.

Tannic acid which is found in red wine is said to be able to prevent the formation of toxic amyloid structures that cause neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. “Our new study demonstrates once again the ability of nature to produce the best candidate of drugs to treat some of the worst human maladies,” the doctor added. “The tools we have developed are ground-breaking and have tremendous potential to help a wide range of patients in the future,” the doctor concluded.
