Did you know just 15 minutes of exercise can help you hone a new skill?

A recent study has found that if you exercise for 15 minutes just after learning something new it can help you hone that skill by locking it in your memory. Even something as simple as a short jog can help in "increasing brain connectivity and efficiency". But, it does take at least a day for it to come into effect.

McGill University conducted the study on a number of participants who were asked to perform a few tasks. One task required them to do something similar to the actions happening in a video game. With the help of a joystick, they were asked to quickly connect a few rectangles together on screen. Only half of the participants were asked to exercise for 15 minutes after completing the task. Although they didn't do much better than the participants who didn't exercise, they fared really well the next day.

"Because the neural activation in the brains of those who had exercised was much lower, the neural resources could then be put to other tasks," lead author of the study Fabien Dal Maso said. "Exercise may help free up part of your brain to do other things." Stay tuned for more updates.
