Everybody likes maintaining some amount of hygiene and cleanliness in order to stay away from ill health and infections. But there are people who are excessively obsessed with keeping the hygiene intact. They are very particular about practicing clean habits and also have a certain way to do a certain thing. Not just that, they also tend to make people practice the same kind of hygiene and cleanliness as them. Now, nobody realises, but this is a real problem. Yes! You read that right. Excess cleanliness and hygiene can lead to antibiotic resistance which can cause illness and even death, says study.

The researchers at Austria's University of Graz, showed that the microbial diversity decreases in areas that have high levels of hygiene and so, the diversity of resistance increases as well. There was seen a worldwide increase in the number of people dying and falling ill from antibiotic-resistant germs, said by a study published in Nature Communications.

The suggestions made to counter this is regular airing, deliberate use of useful microorganisms, houseplants and reduction of antibacterial cleaning agents. These strategies will help in maintaining and improving microbial diversity. And in turn help you stay away from illness and death rates will drop down as well.
