Does waking up in a bad mood end up making your day worse?

It's no secret that a bad mood can get on anyone's nerves. Turns out, waking up on the wrong side of the bed can now worsen your day. Scientists now urge people to get their day started the right way so that the rest of their day doesn't get affected. Researchers from Penn State University examined 240 participants for this study. These participants were asked to rate their levels of stress and complete tasks to test their memories.



"When you wake up in the morning with a certain outlook for the day, in some sense the die is already cast," Researcher Martin Sliwinski said. "If you think your day is going to be stressful, you're going to feel those effects even if nothing stressful ends up happening," he added. "If you wake up and feel like the day is going to be stressful, maybe your phone can remind you to do some deep breathing relaxation before you start your day," he further explained. So maybe it's best to start your day off on a positive note so that you don't get stuck in a bad day.
