We all know that including fruits and veggies in our diet can go a long way for our health. And some fruits help contribute in more ways than you can imagine. As per reports from a recent study, drinking cranberry juice can help reduce the pain of arthritis in women. Women often suffer from arthritis owing to the calcium deficiencies in their bodies as they begin to grow old. And arthritis can be quite a painful condition.

For the study, researchers conducted a survey on 41 participants. For three months these women were tracked as 23 of them drank half a litre of cranberry juice daily while the rest followed their regular diet. Post this, their blood samples were collected and levels of anti-CCP – antibodies (known to damage joints and harm the immune system) were measured.

“The present study indicated that cranberry juice decreases disease activity and therefore has beneficial effects for rheumatoid arthritis patients, although larger and long-term studies are needed to definitively probe this effect and to clarify the mechanisms involved,” the researchers said. The researchers said that only consuming cranberry juice will not help the patients and proper medication needs to be taken as well. However, there are still studies being conducted on the effectiveness of cranberry juice on arthritis. Stay tuned for more updates.
