We're supposed to eat healthy food but being surrounded by junk food all the time can make an impression and that leads to unhealthy food choices. We won't go into the details of how bad junk foods can be for you; we're sure you already know. What we're here to tell you is that your focus should be on healthy eating and that means incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your diet. Doing this can not only improve heart health but can even improve your memory.

A study was conducted with data collected from 1,39,000 elderly Australians and it was found that there was a strong link between certain food groups, memory loss and co-morbid heart disease or diabetes. They also found that the more protein-rich foods these people consumed, the better their memory was.

“Our present study implies that the healthy eating suggestions of cereals consumption in the prevention of memory loss and co-morbid heart disease for older people may differ compared to other age groups,” said the study’s researcher Luna Xu from the University of Technology, Sydney, in Australia.

She also added that people need to change their diets as they age so that things don't become too bad for them in terms of memory. So many people living in Australia develop dementia as they age and this can lead to cognitive and functional impairment. “The dietary intervention in chronic disease prevention and management, by taking into consideration the fact that older populations often simultaneously deal with multiple chronic conditions, is a real challenge,” Xu said.

“To achieve the best outcome for our ageing population, strong scientific evidence that supports effective dietary intervention in preventing and managing co-occurring chronic conditions, is essential,” Xu added.
