Much like food with added sugar, simple carbs too can spike your blood sugar levels when you're sick. Although, it's safe to have carbs with low glycemic index, such as try quinoa, wheat bread and oats. However, go easy on your overall carb intake when you're down with a flu or cold to avoid upsetting your stomach.
