As the entire nation grapples with the nobel coronavirus to curtail the spread of the pandemic, everyone’s focus has now shifted towards improving their health. Keeping our immune system strong and healthy is the utmost priority of the situation. Begin with taking some help from nature and try out Ayurvedic ways that can amp-up your overall health without any side effects. Did you know Indian PM, Narendra Modi is a fan of Ayurveda?

On Wednesday, Modiji shared “General Measures to enhance the body’s natural defense system” on his social media. He mentioned that prevention is better than cure while there’s no cure to the deadly virus, COVID-19. He urges citizens to implement some natural effective ways of improving immunity against the infection. Here’s what you can do to boost your immunity, according to the PM’s post from the Ministry of Ayush:

One must drink an ample amount of fluids to stay hydrated. According to PM, you can drink warm water throughout the day to flush out toxins from the body.

He also added the benefits of common Indian cooking ingredients, such as Haldi or turmeric, jeera or cumin seeds, dhania or coriander, and lahsun or garlic. These must be added to your daily meals as they come packed with anti-bacterial properties.

The PM also suggested that a regular intake of Chyavanprash in the morning can help to boost the immune system.

Drinking herbal teas or concoctions (Kadha) prepared from tulsi, dalchini, kalimirch, dry ginger, munakka is also effective to reduce the risk of infections. We suggest you add fresh jaggery or squeeze of lime to make it pleasing to the tastebuds.

We all must be already aware of the benefits of golden milk or haldi doodh. He requests people to consume a glass of turmeric latte once or twice a day. You can skip the sugar if you’re watching your weight.

For people suffering or experiencing a sore throat, dry cough, it is advised to inhale steam to clear out the congestion. You may add pudina leaves or ajwain seeds to make it more beneficial. One may also consume clove powder mixed with sugar/honey to treat the soreness.

One must consult a doctor if the symptoms of dry cough and sore throat persist for a long time, concluded Narendra Modi.
