Health advisors from around the globe have been stressing on the importance of keeping our hands clean to prevent COVID-19. Currently, handwash and hand santiser have become the most important resources amid the outbreak. Panic buying and lack of production have added to our problem leading to a shortage of hand sanitisers in the market. Estée Lauder just announced previously on Monday that it will start producing hand sanitisers to cope up with the scarcity.

According to reports, the brand is said to reopen it’s a factory in Melville, New York to produce an adequate amount of hand sanitisers. The brand has also pledged to donate $2 million to Doctors Without Borders to support coronavirus treatment in countries that have been severely affected.

“Estée Lauder is proud to contribute to the broader COVID-19 relief efforts and will begin production this week. We are grateful to our employees who have worked tirelessly to make this possible. Compensated, employee volunteers will support this vital, meaningful effort,” said the label through its statement.

However, the beauty company did not mention where these hand santisers would go and to whom exactly. The statement also lacked clarity on its distribution, will it be free of cost or just a fair price product? We are clueless. It was marked in the official statement released by the company that the production would be “for high-need groups and populations, including front-line medical staff.”

So far we have seen opulent goods companies like LVMH to produce hand sanitisers in its French perfume factories. Similarly, L’Oreal and Coty Inc., have also announced initiatives to curb the on-going crisis. There has also been a good number of fashion designers who are trying to put their best foot forward to accelerate the production of face masks. We are delighted to see the entire fashion industry coming together to do their part against the deadly pandemic.
