Experts warn ovarian risk is high for women plagued by endometriosis

A new study warns women living with the disorder endometriosis are at higher risk of developing ovarian cancer.
Researchers reveal it is a common long-term condition that affects one in ten women. While the risk of ovarian cancer is high, the same is not necessarily true for womb and cervical cancer.
For the study, scientists from China examined 25 various studies. Four of the studies were conducted in Taiwan, eight in the US, three in Australia, three in Sweden and two in Demark. One study from Canada, Japan, The Netherlands and Spain were also reviewed. The goal of the studies was different. 23 looked into the risks linked between endometriosis and ovarian cancer, while nine investigated endometrial cancer and three examined cervical cancer.
Because the ovary is a big target of endometriosis it can result in cancer. Endometriosis "exhibits some molecular similarities with cancer," stated the study. The findings suggest endometriosis plays a huge role in the progression of tumour formation. Reproductive issues, obesity and type 2 diabetes are major contributors of endometriosis and ovarian cancer.
