Fitness rules people over 50 years of age must follow

Exercising isn't bound to certain age only, a person can and should exercise regularly in order to keep himself fit and fine. You need to stretch your muscles, strengthen your bones, improve blood circulation and stay fit at every age possible. Regular exercises also helps in improving your mental state and makes you stress free and calm. Kids to adults and older people too, everyone should invest some time to exercise and reduce the risk of injury.

It gets even more important to exercise regularly once you hit 50 so as to prevent any health problems that are common among older people. Like, during old age, your spinal health starts weakening, hip joins start degenerating and grip strength gets weaker too. You can prevent all of this by practicing some exercises on a daily basis. Hence, we're here to give you some tips on how to take good care of your health if you're over 50 years of age.

- Meditation: This is not only good for people over 50 but can be practiced at any age. It helps in calming down the mind and relieves stress by keeping the many mental health issues at bay.

- Strengthen your hands: Your grip tends to weaken with age. And so, people over 50 years of age should practice grip strengthening exercises. You can even do wrist gripping exercises or simply use sponge ball for the same.

- Improve spinal health: Hunched shoulders and back are very common problems among people over 50. This is why, you need to keep your spinal health in check. Try to elongate your spine, neck and shoulder bones. You can even practice some spine stretching exercises like spinal twist and lower back stretch.

- Balancing exercises: These include standing on one foot, walking heel to toe, walking a line, etc. you can fall and get injured while doing these exercises so be extra careful and only do it under supervision. People who are 50 and above should not skip these exercises as these will help them in staying fit.

- Hip mobility: This one demands you to practice squats and yoga asanas to improve your hip movements as continuously sitting for longer hours can weaken the hip joints and rather make them stiff and inflexible.
